INFORMATIONS IN JAPANESE : ぎこちなさ
GIKOCHINA-SA / ぎこちなさ is a performance for two dancers-singers and two musicians, that rely on the observation of unintentional movements such as nervous tics and dyskinesia. The aim is to create a poetic language from the gestures that the body creates despite itself. The dyskinesia is here more than a symptom, it is an untamed expression of disorder. During a residency at the Villa Kujoyama in Japan, Mylène Benoit and the artistic team created a unique “language” through the confrontation between traditional Japanese performing arts and the vocabulary of unintentional movements.
